Luckily, I found a reasonable rate for Rio All Suites Hotel through Hotels.com. I honestly have never trek Rio inspite of its famous seafood buffet so I didn't know what to expect. I didn't have the time to read hotel reviews and just base my judgement on the hotel pictures. Luckily, it was better than expected.
We arrive at Rio All Suites Hotel at 1PM on a Friday hoping they'll let us check in already. Small kids and big kids(us parents.. Haha) needed their nap. But they said if we check in earlier than 3PM, we will be charge with a $20 fee or we can opt to use the pool first. Cha-ching.. I went for the $20 fee.
My body is already aching for a comfortable bed, full blast aircon and to simply start our vacation. The hotel staff was very nice and gave my kids bead necklace and even upgraded us to room with a view of the pool without charging us extra. Sweet!
I totally forgot that I book a suite room. Rio Hotel is an all-suite hotel. So I was surprised when we got to our room and saw how big it was. I book a 2 Queen bed, there's a huge sitting area in front of it. Then a wall separates the closet; long counter with sink and the bathroom. The bathroom is on the small side though.
Their coffee machine is Keurig although you have to purchase your own K-cups for it, would have been nice if it's already free. There are two mini fridge, one for your use and the other is the mini bar for your purchase. We settled in, surrendered to a deep slumber and headed for the pool when we woke up(not sure what time..Lol.)
There are 4 pools at Rio Hotel. The use of the pools are included in the mandatory resort fee that you pay for. It also includes internet and the use of the fitness center and spa. I couldn't log in to the hotel wifi though. Bummer.
The spa was absolutely refreshing. Steam, sauna and a long dipped in their jacuzzi. You can even ask for any of their juices, stay in the lounge area where there are some healthy snacks to help yourself with. I went ahead to relax and even scored a massage deal that weekend for only $85. It was so relaxing I actually fell asleep. The hubby didn't get any of their services, but enjoyed the free use of the spa and the fitness center whenever the kids and I were asleep.
We didn't get to eat at Hash House A Go Go Restaurant even if it's already in the hotel. We tried the dimsum place at the hotel lobby and it was an epic fail. From the service to the quality of food. Stay away. We did enjoy Krung Siam restaurant though. Just a short drive away from the hotel.
Starbucks is also just at the lobby close to the elevator for those in need of their java fix. And the pool was also just steps away. I hate it when you have to walk from one end of the hotel to the other.
All in all, we had a good experience at Rio All Suites Hotel. The rooms were comfy and big, the view of Las Vegas from our room was magnificent. I can stay up all night to stare at it. If you're looking for a family friendly hotel in Las Vegas, I'd recommend this. Check out their rates through Expedia.com
