Things to do in Phoenix with Kids: Children’s Museum of Phoenix

Looking for fun things to do in Phoenix with Kids? A visit to the Children’s Museum of Phoenix is a must. It was first on our itinerary and 3 hours at the 3-storey museum housed at the historic Monroe School Building was not enough.

Said to be one of the top 3 children’s museum in the nation, I was in awe at every detail of this 48,000 square feet museum. The night after our visit, I was inspired from our visit that I wanted to own or put up a children’s museum in our area.

Everything at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix brings about learning through play and fun. I love how they have incorporated simple things like a pool noodle into one of their exhibits. This is not a museum where you cannot touch things by the way. You can touch, ride, explore, and experience everything.

Right when we got in, I look into this big hall and said wow! A huge play structure greeted us. The kids pulled me up to the 3 storey play structure and it gave me a workout. But there's still more to explore after this.

Big sis' favorite at the Children's Museum of Phoenix is the top that you sit on and it spins yet you won’t fall down. The lil' one on the other hand loved the trikes while my fave was this tube that when you put in a hanky it travels to the tube and it flies out.

The suspended pool noodles was a lot of fun too. So simple yet so fun. You go through it and you can get lost inside.

What I also loved about the museum is how they re-use/recycle materials to make it part of the museum. From milk containers to spoons to plastic that looked like a chandelier.

area for under 3

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is mostly indoors, maybe 5% was outdoors but don’t miss it. Simply exit through the cafeteria to see the outdoor fun.

Much can be said about this museum, but my words and the pictures won’t do justice. One must experience it. It is for infants to age 10, but even the 30 something in me enjoyed and got inspired by the place. Add it to your list of fun things to do in Phoenix with kids. But both kids and adults can get inspired and learn from the place.

Do visit it when you visit Phoenix, it's one of the best things to do in Phoenix with Kids. I must also share that parking is free. Something you’d hardly or never see in Downtown Phoenix. We took a cab from our hotel though - Sheraton Grand in Downtown Phoenix, not knowing that there is parking at the museum. If you don't want to drive and is staying in one of the hotels in downtown, a quick cab ride is fine too, it costs us only $5 one way.

Children's Museum of Phoenix is located at 215 N. 7th st., Phoenix, AZ. Admission is $11 and $10 for seniors, free for kids 1 and under. They are open Tuesdays to Sundays with select Mondays.

We had tons of fun. Thanks Children's Museum of Phoenix for a fun and memorable visit.

Also check out our visit to the Legoland Discovery Center for more fun things to do in Phoenix with kids. It's in Tempe but a short drive from Downtown Phoenix.
