Umami Burger has been creating buzz for quite some time now with locations popping up everywhere. With the famous lips logo that means get your lips on the buns. That's exactly what we did when we went to try it out.
The hubby ordered the Original Umami Burger. Burger patty with parmesan crisp, shitake mushroom, roasted tomato, caramelized onion, are you still with me? Or are you drooling right now? I on the other hand, ordered the Truffle burger, it has home-made truffle cheese and truffle glaze. We also ordered the tempura onion rings and truffle fries.
The verdict. The patties were both juicy whether you order it as medium rare or medium well, we ordered one of each. Both tasted nothing like any burger we've ever had. It is umami after all, one of the basic tastes that is hard to describe.
We preferred the truffle burger over the umami burger. Yet though Umami's burgers were good, it felt like it can still be improve. Just as the taste is hard to describe, what's missing is also hard to define. I'll put them on a scale of 7 from a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest. The tempura onion rings were just okay but the hubby liked his truffle fries.
Umami Burger also serves ice cream sandwiches but we didn't get to try them this time. Maybe next time if we give the place another try. How about you folks, what's luring you into the beach lately? Leave your comments, we'd love to hear from you.
